Maverick knew he had to be patience and wait on his mitawin, his wife. His grandfather was right Tempest was definitely worth the hard work and patience. In the end, he wore her down and they all became a family. His vision came true.I enjoyed reading this story and the entire Megalodon Team series. Each character was relatable and likeable. James Chayton Lonetree aka Maverick was such a likeable alpha male. His relationship with the rest of the team is admirable. They are truly brothers, each other's chosen family and that includes their wives who embraced Tempest into their group wholeheartedly.
I can understand Tempest's raging anger on her situation which was horrible for a 13 year old to live through. Despite this, she raised a well mannered, intelligent and loving young man. Dakota Falcon Burnell was the best thing that happened to Tempest and she would never reject him like her parents had. Speaking of her parents, at least her father had some regrets and asked for forgiveness, but her mother and Maverick's parents were absolutely horrid. I can not imagine doing my child they way they did.
This storyline and plot was by far the best in the series.

Of course, I have read the whole series and truly my reviews have not been the kindest. But I am glad I completed the series. Chayton's Tempest is a pretty good book. Ms. Burke continued to revisit the character's from the series which is always nice. Chayton who has been a player the whole series had a serious surprise in this story. And he rose to the occasion, he took responsibility for his role in the betrayals Tempest suffered. He, also, confronted the people who kept the truth from him. He vowed to be there for Tempest and his son and he was. I, also, appriciated that Tempest was up front about her anger and distrust of Chayton. Too many times in a romance the biggest secret is keeping the hero from knowing he has fathered a child. Tempest love for Chayton was never in doubt, but the development of her trust in him was realistic in my opinion. I,also, appriciated that Chayton realized very early that he would need both patience and perserverance to win his lady love and his son. Good job, Ms. Burke.
I've liked Maverick from the first book. Who else would have the balls to flirt with everyone's wife. This book was so hard to put down. The hurt from Tempest childhood was so horrible. I wanted to hurt the adults myself. Maverick helped her heal with love, peace, and understanding. Great book..Mrs. Burke saved the best for last!!
Finished my 5th novel!! Let's just say that this book deserves 5 stars. I lovvveeedd "Under His Spell", but it was not realistic, due to the paranormal/wolf thing. However, "Clayton's Tempest" was very believable. I appreciated the good and ugly moments. It is very attractive when a man love and will die for his child(ren). Furthermore, it was refreshing to read about visions and have a peek into the Lakota culture. Also, I liked that when he spoke to her in Lakota, he actually translated for Tempest. We women can be some complicated creatures. -) It takes a sharp shooting Navy SEAL (and the likes) to shatter that wall around our hearts. Overall, aspects of love and marriage is ideal, in my opinion. BRAVO!!
I would love to see this played out in a movie. Gabriel Union as Tempest and Michael or Eddie Spears as Maverick.
As the last single man of the Megalodon Team, I was wondering what in the world the author was going to do with Maverick. Afterall, he was the quintessential ladies man, who was never at a loss for female companionship. When Maverick takes off on a journey after a vision he has, who would've ever thought it would lead him to the very woman from his distant past? A past maverick had no idea had happened so long ago.
Like the other members of the Team, Maverick was the typical strong, Alpha Male type who would do anything to protect and love the woman of his dreams. The only parts of the story that irritated me were when the heroine (Tempest Burnell) continued to blame Maverick for not being there for her so long ago; even though he was completely unaware of the circumstances she dealt with in his absence for 21 years.
